Events and Activities at Hurst Farm

We have developed a programme of sociable events, projects and activities throughout the year that bring us together to explore and enjoy the natural habitats and woodlands at Hurst Farm.

We welcome you to get involved – a great opportunity to connect to each other and the beauty of the woodland on our doorstep.

Walk With Us

A programme of sociable and educational guided walks and tours, taking place each month.

We meet at the Hurst Farm Community Garden and the walks encourage us to explore the woodland at Hurst Farm in different ways.

Dry Stone Walling

Dry Stone Walling - Taster Sessions
If you have ever taken a stroll in Hurst Farm you may have noticed the dry stone walls taking shape there.

They are an integral part of the heritage landscape at Hurst Farm and they have fallen into disrepair in places.

Community Rangers and Dry Stone Walling Volunteers have been working to restore this important local landscape feature that will last for generations.

If you are curious about this traditional heritage craft and would like to get involved in some way, why not come along to our Dry Stone Walling Taster Session, taking place every Monday from 10am – 3pm at the Community Garden.

You will meet the Wild Works Community Rangers and Volunteers and find out what is involved.

Volunteer Opportunties

Volunteering is good for our wellbeing. It is a rewarding and positive experience that enables us to use our skills and knowledge to help others.

There are many ways to volunteer with the Wild Works project at Hurst Farm and we have a range of new roles.

The Hurst Farm volunteer roles also provide opportunities for skills development, with a range of training available.

Community Garden

The Hurst Farm Community Garden is located at the top of Hazel Grove adjacent to Farmers View Social Club.

The garden is being developed by volunteers who are turning it into a thriving community space for the people of Hurst Farm.

The first stage of this involves preparing the ground, and volunteers have already cleared a large space of overgrown land and are in the process of building the infrastructure needed to create a functional, secure and attractive community run facility.

There are also opportunities to explore bee keeping.

Produce from the Community Garden will be used to support local community projects such as The Pantry and Milk Churn Café.
