Heritage that is Understood, Respected,
Safeguarded and Treasured for Hurst Farm

In June 2022, Derbyshire Dales District Council was awarded £1.2m funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the delivery of the Hurst Farm Heritage Trail project in Matlock. Made possible by National Lottery players, the project aims to improve the existing footpaths around the Hurst Farm Woodland in Matlock connecting four heritage sites. The Heritage Trail will repair and protect the existing historic stone paths and architectural features. It will also carry out essential conservation work on the woodland, the Wishingstone and improve the existing wildlife habitats. Lead by the Estate Regeneration Officer from DDDC and Friends of Hurst Farm the project is a partnership of stakeholders and local organisation, who have been working together over the last 5 years towards creating and implementing a masterplan for the estate. The Heritage Trail project is one of 8 key projects of the Hurst Farm Regeneration vision. The Heritage Trail project is a key element of the masterplan.
