Heritage that is Understood, Respected, Safeguarded and Treasured for Hurst Farm

In June 2022, Derbyshire Dales District Council was awarded £1.2m funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the delivery of the Hurst Farm Heritage Trail project in Matlock. This 5 year project, made possible by National Lottery players, aims to improve the existing footpaths around the Hurst Farm Woodland in Matlock connecting four heritage sites.

The project will deliver a new accessible woodland trail and repair and protect the existing historic stone paths and architectural features. The project also funds The Wild Works Ranger team who have started essential conservation work on the woodland, the Wishingstone and improvements to existing wildlife habitats.

The Ranger Team and the Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator also lead on an Activity Programme, which aims to bring new skills to the local community through training, volunteering and events. Head to our Get Involved page to find out more.

The Heritage Trail project is part of a wider vision to bring improvements to the local area and new opportunities to those living in the community.
